VERDIGRE Schools

Unified School District #1 - In 1999 the Verdigre School District unified with the school districts of Orchard and Clearwater making up Nebraska's first Unified School District. The district covers 549 miles, with a total valuation of $287,981,675. This school year the Unified District's 536 K-12 students, taught by sixty-three(63) teachers, provides a quality teacher-student ratio of less than 9-1. Education Service Unit #8 provides qualified support services in; Nursing, Speech Therapy, Special Education, Psychologist, Staff Development, Technology Assistance, Migrant Program, among other pertinent programs.

Elementary School - Approximately 84 students make up Kindergarten thru 6th grades at Verdigre Elementary School. Hot lunches for Verdigre Public School are served in the elementary building. Verdigre Public's music department is also in the elementary building. A new outdoor basketball court and playground equipment were built recently.

High School - The high school consists of a main building with classrooms, an auditorium, and a building containing Special Education, Art, and Industrial Arts. Approximately 99 students are enrolled at Verdigre High School. The school mascot is the Hawk., School colors are blue and gold. Verdigre sends and receives classes via the distance learning system. Verdigre is a member of the Niobrara Valley Conference.
